SVIRYD IMPRESSES HOMECROWD WHILE OLSEN WINS FIRT SENIOR MEDAL

This weekend at the European Open in Minsk, Belarus, a lot of Ippon Gear youngsters followed up the success of the Ippon Gear athletes from last week at the Grand Prix in Budapest.

On day one of competition, we saw Lærke Marie Olsen of Denmark reaching the final but losing out and having to settle for the silver medal. Nevertheless, this was the youngster’s first senior medal and a great result for her while still being junior.

In the same category, Tina Zeltner reached the podium as she took bronze after losing out to Olsen in the quarter final. This is the Austrian's third European Open medal this year.

Also, Jorre Verstraeten won a bronze medal on day one. He did it in impressive style as he secured his medal by winning the bronze medal fight with two wazaari.

In the -48 kg category, there was an all Ippon Gear bronze medal match as the two Austrians Katharina Tanzer and Mara Kraft had to fight each other. It was Tanzer who came out on top and secured the bronze medal. Kraft had to settle for a fifth place. Strong performances for the two lightweights.

Furthermore, Manuel Scheibel of Germany progressed to the bronze medal match as well which he won and secured another medal for the Ippon Gear team.

On the second day of competition, there were more medals for the Ippon Gear athletes. Home favorite Mikita Sviryd in -100 kg won another medal in front of his home crowd showing off his incredible throwing skills.

In the same category, we saw Jelle Snippe come away with a fifth place as well. A good result for him as he is still a junior.

Also, Czech heavyweight and youngster Marketa Paulusova made it to the bronze medal match but sadly fell short of the medal and ended up fifth. Nevertheless, a good result for her and good preparation for the upcoming Junior European Championships.

Emilie Sook of Denmark also ended up with a fifth place after a long bronze medal match which was decided in golden score. Also, a strong performance from her.

Some came close to medals, some found themselves on the podium. We win together we lose together. We are proud of all of you
