Remscheider TV and JSV Speyer Secure Titles in the 2024 Judo Bundesliga

On Saturday, the 2024 Judo Bundesliga Finals took place at the Sporthalle am Platz der Deutschen Einheit in Wiesbaden. Around 1,000 spectators watched the thrilling event, which, for the first time, hosted both the men’s and women’s finals at the same venue. It was an exciting day marked by some unexpected outcomes.

Men: Remscheider TV Wins First Title

In the men’s competition, Remscheider TV secured their first-ever championship in the club’s history. In a tense final, they defeated TSG Backnang, crowning an outstanding season. Fans celebrated this historic victory with enthusiasm, while Backnang, who also had a strong season, had to settle for second place.

Third place was secured by our IPPONGEAR teams—TSV Abensberg, one of the league’s most traditional clubs, and the Hamburg Judo Team, which has been a fixture in the Final 4 for years.

Women: JSV Speyer Triumphs

In the women’s competition, JSV Speyer delivered an outstanding performance to claim the title. In the final, they also faced TSG Backnang, who, for the second time, finished in the runner-up spot in both the men’s and women’s competitions.

The bronze medals were claimed by TSV Hertha Walheim and JC 66 Bottrop. Both teams ended their strong seasons on a high note with a well-deserved podium finish.

Honors and Farewells at the Olympic Evening

Following the sporting events, the German Judo Federation hosted the Olympic Evening, a celebration reflecting on the year 2024 and honoring distinguished athletes. Among those recognized were Miriam Butkereit, who won a silver medal at the Paris Olympic Games, and Anna-Maria Wagner, who delivered an exceptional performance by winning her second World Championship gold medal.

Additionally, long-serving Sports Director Hartmut Paulat bid farewell, stepping down from his role. Stephan Bode, head of the Referee Commission, was also honored for his many years of dedicated service.

The 2024 Judo Bundesliga Finals not only showcased spectacular judo action but also provided a fitting setting for emotional farewells and celebratory honors. Once again, Wiesbaden proved to be the stage for an outstanding judo event that will leave a lasting memory for both fans and participants.

Both IPPONGEAR teams, TSV Abensberg and the Hamburg Judo Team, competed in the Bundesliga season wearing the Fighter 2 Judo Gi. This Gi is available in six trouser colors and three jacket colors, making it an ideal team uniform. We are happy to personalize your team Gi with sponsor patches or club logos, ensuring you’re ready for the new season.
