Michaela Polleres: Gold in the weight category -70 kg
Michaela Polleres of Austria could celebrate the second Grand Slam title of her career, as she rose to the highest step of the podium in the -70 kg category. After winning a bronze medal at her home Grand Prix in Linz a few weeks ago, the current Olympic runner-up seem to be building momentum for the Games in Paris.
Ana Viktorija Puljiz: Bronze in the weight category -52 kg
Just one week after capturing her first ever medal in a Grand Slam, Ana Viktorija Puljiz of Croatia was awarded yet another Grand Slam medal in the -52 kg category. During the last three months, Puljiz has rapidly climbed up the Olympic ranking list and this weekend’s result did again gain her very valuable points for her Olympic journey.
Katarina Kristo: Bronze in the weight category -63 kg
Puljiz’s teammate Katarina Kristo was able to come away with her third medal during the Olympic qualification period: a bronze medal in the -63 kg category. This medal presumably brings her one step ahead of her teammate Iva Oberan, who, as well, is a strong contender to become the Croatian representative in the -63 kg category at the Olympic Games in Paris.
Anna-Maria Wagner: Bronze in the weight category -78 kg
Germany’s Anna-Maria Wagner has had a terrific start of the Olympic year and has been able to come away with a medal in every competition she has attended. The tall German is one of the most consistent athletes in the -78 kg category, which she once again proved this weekend by winning her third medal of the year, a bronze medal.
Congratulations to our strong IPPONGEAR women, for the great performances this weekend! This Grand Slam was the last IJF World Tour event, before the Continental Champions will be crowned at respectively the European, the Pan-American, the Asian and African Championships, which will all take place in the end of April.
