We were looking forward to the Olympics in 2020 seeing a big IPPON GEAR Team entering the Olympic mat for the first time. However, we will have to wait another year. But how will the next year look like? There are big question marks especially about the qualification period. Our athletes do everything in their power to train hard at home and stay in shape while the world recovers. IJF President, Marius Vizer, confirmed that there will be at least the same amount of qualification tournaments included in the qualification period as before the breakout of the pandemic. However, everything depends on the health situation in the world. Mr. Vizer reassured everyone that it will be a fair qualification process.
We will keep you updated on the qualification process to make sure, our athletes are informed as good as possible. It’s a tough time, both mentally and physically, to stay in the unknown. But we all have our eyes on one certain thing: The Olympic Games in 2021 and we are very excited to see our team enter the Olympic Arena next year in Tokyo.
