The IBJJF Europeans NO-Gi only takes place once a year and attracts a correspondingly large number of participants. Fabyury competed in the middleweight class, which was one of the most heavily populated categories. Just a week before the tournament, it was unclear whether he would be able to take part, as an ankle injury from a previous fight had forced him to take a break.
On the day of the competition, Fabyury showed what he was made of in the preliminary rounds: he defeated both Giovanni Brundo and the well-known European Jakub Najdek. Three more challenging fights followed on Sunday, in which Fabyury thrilled the audience with his spectacular fighting style. In the quarter-finals, he prevailed against Lars Alpäng, and in the semi-finals he faced top athlete Kieran Kuchuk from the USA, whom he defeated after an intense ten-minute fight. In the final, he finally triumphed over Pierre-Olivier Leclerc with a narrow advantage, securing his first black belt medal at a major tournament.
