It was a golden day for German Erik Abramov in the +100 kg category who made it to the final winning all his fights in less than 1 minute. In the final, he beat his opponent, IPPON GEAR athlete, Jonas Schreiber and showed amazing IPPON judo as usual. A fantastic performance from the Junior Vice European Champion! He is on a mission this year!
One day one of competition, we saw an amazing performance from Danish Jonas Czajkowski, who managed to reach the final, beating strong opponents with big throwing techniques. However, in the final, he lost out on one shido in a tough match in golden score. Nevertheless, a great result for the Junior, who took his first Junior European Cup medal after many 5th places last year. We cannot wait to see him on the podium again!
There was a 5th place for Mikulas Mesko of the Czech Republic in the -81 kg category. He had a great start to the competition but had to settle for fifth place at the end of the day. Still, a good result and we know what he is capable of! His teammate Martin Bezdek in -90 kg also landed right outside the podium with a 5th place. The first-year junior is showing great progress and we are sure he will be on the podium very soon!
In -57 kg category the Hungarian Andrea Karman also made her way through the preliminaries. But after some long and hard matches, she had to settle for a 7th place.
All in all, a good tournament for the small IPPON GEAR team attending the competition and as always we love to see the youngsters showing their IPPON throwing skills as well!
Next up for the Juniors will be the EJU European Judo Cup in Leibnitz, Austria in 2 weeks’ time where a big team of IPPON GEAR athletes will attend as well.
