Zuzanna Banaszewska: Gold in the weight category +70 kg
Our IPPONGEAR athletes from Poland had a great run-through at this year’s Cadet World Championships and secured not less than four medals.
First and foremost, Zuzanna Banaszewska, was able to come away with a gold medal in the weight category +70 kg. Banasweska has been a dominant force in her category this year and has won three Cadet European cup medals, of which two of then were gold. Earlier this year, Banaszewska was crowned Cadet European Champion and this weekend, she was as well able to claim the Cadet World title. What a year for this young lady!
Kristyna Kaszperova: Bronze in the weight category +70 kg
Banaszewska could share the podium with another IPPONGEAR athlete, Czech Republic’s Kristyna Kaszperova, who could celebrate coming away with a bronze medal. Czech Kaszperova did, as well as Banaszewska, capture a Cadet European medal earlier this year and could now add a second major medal to her collection.
Marek-Adrian Masak: Silver in the weight category +90 kg
Another favourite to win a medal at this year’s Cadet World Championships, was reigning Cadet European Champion, Estonia’s Marek-Adrian Masak. As Cadet WRL #1, Masak came into the competition as the number one seed and managed to make it all the way to the final and in the end of the was awarded a silver medal.
Amelia Ptasinska: Bronze in the weight category -63 kg
Poland’s Amelia Ptasinska could celebrate picking up a bronze medal in the -63 kg category. The Pole had not been able to secure a medal at the U18 European cup tour this season but topped the podium at the Cadet European Championships earlier this summer, claiming the title as Cadet European Champion. This week, she was able to add another major medal to her collection, a Cadet World bronze medal.
Sandra Valendzik: Bronze in the weight category -40 kg
Another Polish medalist at this year’s Cadet World Championships, was Sandra Valendzik who picked up a bronze medal in the lightweight division, the -40 kg category. Valendzik has had a great season and made it into not less than three European cup finals. She missed out on a medal at the Cadet European Championships earlier this summer but was now able to secure a World medal, the first major medal of the young Pole’s career.
Barbara Twarowska: Bronze in the weight category -48 kg
Barbara Twarowska could celebrate yet another medal for the Polish IPPONGEAR team, as she clinched a bronze medal in the category -48 kg. This year, Twarowska became runner-up at the Cadet European Championships and did as well, manage to secure a Junior European cup medal. Now, she managed to close her season in style by capturing a Cadet World medal.
Elise Rustige: Bronze in the weight category -52 kg
Elise Rustige of the Netherlands could be thrilled to pick up a bronze medal and book a spot at the podium in the -52 kg category. The Dutch had won two Cadet European cup medals this season and could now end the year on a high by securing her first major medal.
Emil Jabiyev: Bronze in the weight category -90 kg
In the category under 90 kg, Emil Jabiyev of Sweden could celebrate capturing a bronze medal. The Swede narrowly missed out on a spot at the podium at last year’s Cadet World Championships, were he ended with a 5th place. This year, Jabiyev was able go all the way and secure his first Cadet World medal.
